The Royal Albert Bridge

The Royal Albert Bridge in Saltash, designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and opened in 1859, carries the railway across the River Tamar between Cornwall and Devon. The bridge is 2,187 feet (667 meters) long, with two massive 455-foot (139-meter) main spans supported by distinctive lenticular iron trusses and 17 approach spans. It stands approximately 100 feet (30 meters) above the water at high tide, allowing ships to pass beneath. A Grade I listed structure, it remains an iconic symbol of Victorian engineering and is still in active use today.

The webcam overlooking the bridge streams live footage of trains crossing the historic structure. Viewers can spot a variety of services, including Great Western Railway (GWR) high-speed trains, CrossCountry intercity services, and local commuter trains running between Cornwall and Devon.
