Popocatepetl Volcano

Popocatepetl volcano, "Smoking Mountain", is the second tallest peak in the Trans-Mexican belt stretching through Mexico’s states Puebla and Morelos. It’s steep-walled crater measures at 1,300 ft x 2,000 ft wide.

The webcams are positioned in several communities surrounding Popocatépetl, offering live views of the volcano from different directions. Streams from San Pedro Benito Juárez, San Nicolás de los Ranchos, and San Matías Tlalancaleca let viewers watch the volcano's daily activity, including steam emissions, drifting ash clouds, changing weather, and nighttime glow during periods of increased activity. Because each camera is located in a different area, they provide unique perspectives of the mountain and its surrounding landscape. The webcams are useful for comparing visibility and observing how conditions vary around the volcano throughout the day. Together, they provide continuous coverage of one of the most closely monitored volcanoes in North America.
