Amsterdam: Singel Canal
The Singel Canal in Amsterdam was originally a moat that encircled the medieval city until 1585, marking the city's western boundary. It stretches approximately 1.5 kilometers from the IJ Bay near Central Station to the Muntplein square. Lined with historic buildings, including the narrowest house in the world at Singel 7, the canal is part of Amsterdam's UNESCO-listed canal ring. The Singel also features the famous floating flower market, the Bloemenmarkt, which has operated since 1862.
The webcam installed at a hotel on the Singel Canal offers a live view of one of Amsterdam's most charming areas. The stream captures De Poezenboot (The Cat Boat), a unique floating animal sanctuary that has been moored on the canal since 1966. Viewers can also enjoy scenes of historic canal houses, bustling pedestrian walkways, and cyclists navigating the narrow streets. This webcam provides a real-time glimpse into everyday life along one of Amsterdam's oldest and most picturesque canals.
