Aomori Airport (AOJ) is a regional airport in northern Japan located in Aomori City at an elevation of about 198 meters above sea level. It has a single 3,000-meter asphalt-concrete runway, designated 06/24, capable of handling large jet aircraft. The runway system includes a wide landing strip, a parallel taxiway, and an apron with several parking stands that can accommodate large, medium, and small aircraft. The airport is equipped with full airfield lighting, including approach lights, centerline lights, and touchdown zone lights, and it supports ILS operations in low-visibility winter conditions. Aomori Airport also maintains a robust snow-removal fleet due to the region’s heavy snowfall, ensuring stable operations throughout winter. The airfield includes a control tower, rescue and firefighting facilities, aircraft hangars, and a multi-level parking area for passengers.

The webcam is installed on the roof of the terminal building, giving it a high vantage point over the apron, taxiways, and the main runway. It features live sound, allowing viewers to hear aircraft engines, ground activity, and the general airport atmosphere. In winter, the webcam often captures snow-clearing vehicles such as plows, sweepers, and blowers working around the runway and apron to keep operations safe. Viewers can see Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways aircraft, most commonly Boeing 737s, Airbus A321s, and various regional planes serving domestic routes. Occasionally, smaller turboprop aircraft and charter jets also appear in the stream. Altogether, the webcam offers a dynamic look at both flight operations and the busy ground-support activity that keeps Aomori Airport running smoothly.
