Ylläs Ski Resort is one of the largest ski resorts in Finland, located in Lapland above the Arctic Circle. It is accessed from two villages, Äkäslompolo and Ylläsjärvi, giving skiing access on both sides of the fell. The resort offers a wide variety of runs, from gentle beginner slopes to long, scenic forest trails. It is known for being quieter and less crowded than many Alpine ski destinations. It has modern lifts, reliable snow conditions, and extensive cross-country skiing routes. It is also famous for Northern Lights in winter and the midnight sun in summer, making it a year-round Arctic destination.

The webcams are set up in key locations to give a real-time overview of conditions across the mountain and village. One webcam is positioned at the gondola base station, showing the main lift entry point where skiers and snowboarders gather, load the gondola, and start their day on the slopes. The same camera also captures the nearby resort street, including restaurants, hotels, and chalets, so viewers can see both ski activity and the everyday life of the village in one frame. A second webcam is placed higher up near the top chairlift station, offering a clear view of the upper slopes, lift exit area, and mountain weather conditions.
