San Marcos Regional Airport (HYI) is a public airport located about 4 miles (6.4 km) east of downtown San Marcos in Central Texas. The airport covers more than 1,300 acres (530 hectares) and serves general aviation, business aviation, and flight training activities. It features three runways, with the longest extending 6,330 ft (1,929 m), capable of handling a variety of aircraft. Originally established as a military airfield during World War II, it later became a civilian airport and an important aviation center for the region. Today, HYI serves as a key reliever airport between Austin and San Antonio, supporting thousands of aircraft movements each year.
The webcams show live views from the Berry Aviation facility, overlooking busy ramps, taxiways, and runway intersections while broadcasting live air traffic control communications when the tower is open from 07:00 to 21:00 Central Time. Viewers can watch a steady mix of general aviation traffic, including single-engine trainers such as Cessna 172s and Piper aircraft from local flight schools. Business aviation is also common, with private jets such as Cessna Citations, Embraer Phenoms, and Learjets regularly arriving and departing. The cameras occasionally capture larger turboprop aircraft operated by Berry Aviation, including cargo and charter flights. Helicopters, visiting military aircraft, and specialty aircraft can sometimes be seen during training exercises or special events.
