Newcastle Central Station, opened on 29 August 1850, is one of the UK's busiest railway hubs, serving over 8.9 million passengers annually. It was designed by architect John Dobson and features a distinctive curved roof supported by three elegant arched spans. The station has 12 platforms and is a key stop on the East Coast Main Line, connecting London, Edinburgh, and other major cities. In 2014, a £20 million redevelopment improved passenger facilities, including a new glass frontage and expanded concourse.
The webcam provides a live view over the northeastern end of the station and occasionally pans to show the High Level Bridge over the River Tyne. Viewers can spot a variety of trains, including LNER, CrossCountry, Northern, TransPennine Express, and Lumo services, as well as freight trains passing through.
