Skiathos Airport (JSI) is a small international airport located on the island of Skiathos, Greece, and is famous for its very short runway (1,628 meters / 5,341 ft), which makes landings and takeoffs quite dramatic. Because of its proximity to the public road and beach, it is often compared to St. Maarten's Princess Juliana Airport for plane-spotting experiences. The airport mainly serves seasonal charter and scheduled flights from across Europe, bringing in large numbers of tourists during the summer months. In 2023, Skiathos Airport handled over 500,000 passengers and more than 5,000 aircraft movements, making it one of the busiest regional island airports in Greece.
The webcam streams live views of aircraft landing and taking off just meters above the road and beach. Viewers can often see narrow-body jets like the Airbus A320, Boeing 737, and Embraer E190, as well as smaller turboprops serving domestic routes. Airlines frequently spotted include Aegean Airlines, TUI, Jet2, easyJet, Ryanair, and Olympic Air, especially during the busy summer season. The peak times for watching are in the afternoons and evenings of June through September, when charter flights from across Europe arrive. Besides the dramatic runway action, the webcam also captures the waterfront of Skiathos town, with local houses, fishing boats, and ferries adding to the island’s charm.
