The Needles are a row of three striking chalk stacks that rise dramatically from the sea off the Isle of Wight's western coast. At the tip of these famous chalk formations stands the Needles Lighthouse, built in 1859 to guide ships safely through the treacherous waters. The tower rises 33.25 meters (109 feet) above the rocks, with its powerful light visible up to 24 nautical miles (44 km) out to sea. Constructed from red-painted granite to endure the harsh Channel weather, the lighthouse became fully automated in 1994, ending the need for resident keepers.

Live webcams showcase the breathtaking Needles capturing Alum Bay with its scenic chairlift, multicoloured sands, and towering chalk pillars that rise 30 metres above the Solent. The landmark owes its name to a missing fourth pinnacle, known as Lot's Wife, which crumbled into the sea during a storm in 1764, leaving the three striking stacks visible today.
