Haus des Meeres is located in the Mariahilf district of Vienna, near the popular shopping street Mariahilfer Straße in the city center. The aquarium is housed inside a massive former World War II flak tower that rises prominently above the surrounding neighborhood. Inside, it is home to more than 10,000 animals including tropical fish, sharks, sea turtles, reptiles, and exotic birds. Visitors can walk through the impressive Atlantic tunnel tank where sharks and rays swim overhead. A tropical house with free-roaming monkeys and lush vegetation adds a rainforest atmosphere to the experience. At the very top, a rooftop terrace provides panoramic views across Vienna, making it both a wildlife attraction and a scenic viewpoint.
The webcams give a fascinating look inside Haus des Meeres, showcasing its most impressive aquatic exhibits. Two webcams focus on the large shark tank, where sleek sharks swim gracefully alongside stingrays and colorful fish. Another camera streams from the Atlantic Tunnel, offering a unique view from inside the glass aquarium. Through this webcam, viewers can watch marine life overhead while also seeing visitors on the other side observing the fish. Sharks, stingrays, and other species move continuously, creating a lively underwater scene. These live streams allow people worldwide to experience the aquarium's vibrant marine world in real time.
