The Mount Washington Cog Railway, located in New Hampshire, is the world's first mountain-climbing cog railway, built in 1869, and ascends to the summit of Mount Washington (6,288 ft / 1,917 m). This historic railway features both steam and biodiesel-powered locomotives, offering breathtaking views of the White Mountains during the 3-hour round trip. It remains a major tourist attraction, providing a unique and thrilling experience on a steep, gear-driven track with a maximum grade of 37.41%.

The webcam streams live views of the train as it climbs the mountain. During the operational months, you can watch the cog train on its route up the steep track. In winter, the webcam also captures skiers on the slopes, though the railway itself doesn’t run during that time. The railway operates from late April to November and closes in December.
