Buenos Aires is the capital and largest city of Argentina, located on the western shore of the Rio de la Plata. The city has a population of about 3 million people, while the greater metropolitan area–known as Gran Buenos Aires–hosts over 15 million residents, making it one of the largest urban areas in South America. Founded in 1536 by Spanish settlers and refounded in 1580, it became Argentina's political, cultural, and economic center. Buenos Aires covers approximately 203 square kilometers (78 square miles) and is divided into 48 neighborhoods, including famous ones like Palermo, Recoleta, and San Telmo. The city's architecture blends European styles, earning it the nickname "The Paris of South America." It is also home to world-renowned landmarks such as the Obelisk and the Teatro Colón, considered one of the best opera houses in the world.

The webcams overlooking July 9 Avenue (Avenida 9 de Julio) and the Obelisk of Buenos Aires show one of the most vibrant and recognizable views in Argentina's capital. They capture the bustling traffic, pedestrian movement, and the towering 67.5-meter Obelisk, which stands at the intersection of July 9 Avenue and Corrientes Avenue. The Obelisk was built in 1936 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the city's founding, marking the place where the national flag was first raised. From different vantage points, the webcams reveal the avenue's impressive width, with up to seven lanes in each direction and green spaces running down the center. One camera offers a panoramic view that includes surrounding buildings and the rhythm of city life from day to night. Other provides a closer look at the Obelisk itself, often illuminated in different colors during national events or celebrations.
