The Pygmy Hippo is an endangered species of hippo that hails primarily from West Africa, typically in the Liberia area. These elusive creatures tend to keep to themselves and are nocturnal in nature which makes it difficult to observe them in the wild, so most knowledge obtained about them comes from those in captivity. With only 3,000 of them in existence in the wild, they are on the endangered species list, however they bred well in captivity so their numbers are slowly growing.

The camera is concentrated on a section of the pool area of the habitat available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Because the Pygmy Hippo is a nocturnal creature, the webcam is outfitted with night vision, increasing your chances of getting to view them as they happily play in their sanctuary.
